Daniel Gomes

Web archivist, research and development manager

Short biography

I'm the leader of the Portuguese Web Archive and manager of the web development team at the Portuguese National Foundation for Scientific Computing (FCCN).

My main interests are team management, usability, development and quality assurance of web-based information systems.

I collaborate with international organizations to improve their online presence, developing more effective and efficient web-based information systems that can be easily used by visitors, customers or staff.

To achieve successful projects, I advocate the need of combining User Experience techniques for requirement analysis and product quality management with SCRUM methodology for productive software implementation.

I maintain a site in where I share useful findings to the Portuguese-speaking web community.

I'm an invited researcher at the XLDB Research Team of the University of Lisbon. My PhD thesis, entitled “Web Modelling for Web Warehouse design”, described the characteristics of web data and discussed their impact on the design of web data processing systems.
